The word fart has been derived from the word flatulence, which means to have excess gas in the digestive tract. Farting is the expulsion of these intestinal gases through the anus thus breaking wind. People fart for many reasons. Some people fart just because they find it fun. Others fart to start or end a conversation. Most people, however, fart because of the necessity of it. Farting is better than not farting.
Farting is fun for many people for many reasons. Everyone knows that farts are made of highly concentrated methane gas. Now methane gas is very flammable, thus the attractiveness of lighting farts on fire. Farts are very funny. Take for instance, last night before the Grant Park Dragons first basketball game, they got their picture taken and they all had to be in lines. These lines were very close quartered. If someone had taken the initiative to "break wind" everyone in the lines would have laughed very much. Good moods generally follow after letting a fart. After letting a fart, you are relieved. You have taken pressure off your body. This makes people feel good. On the other hand, if you hold in your farts you will be wincing and be in a bad mood.
Farting is not only fun, it's also necessary. As we see from up top, farting, being derived from flatulence, is the expulsion of excess intestinal gases through the anus. If we did not fart, we would keep building up these intestinal gasses eventually would explode! Also if you hold it in for so long, you would have excruciating abdominal pains that could only be relieved by farting.
Conversations can be made or broken by a fart. When you walk up to someone, you can just spin you butt around and rip a big one. This is going to either get them to laugh and talk to you or just walk away. Once you get them talking to you, if they choose that route, the conversation is going to be that much better. If the fart was a long, lingering one, you and the fart receiver can talk about the odor and longevity of that odor. Now if the receiver didn't choose the path of staying to partake of the wonderful gift that you have bestowed upon them, then what kind of person where they in the first place anyways? And did you really want to talk to them?
Clearly "breaking wind" is far better than not "breaking wind". There are many more benefits from it. Also without farting you wouldn't have enough energy inside you, if you continuously farted for six months and three days straight, to make an atomic bomb. Can't you just feel the power inside of you? So next time you have a fart and you think about holding it in, just remember of all the possibilities that you have with just that one single fart!
